❄️ Winter (December – February)
Focus: Freeze prevention, indoor maintenance, and preparing for cold weather.
Test carbon monoxide and smoke detectors (Quarterly — do in January)
Check for ice dams and icicles
Inspect attic for proper insulation and signs of condensation or leaks
Change furnace filters (December & February)
Inspect appliance hoses for cracks and leaks
Run water & flush toilets in unused spaces (prevent pipe freezing)
Check water softener salt levels
Clean range hood fan filter
Clean garbage disposal
Vacuum refrigerator coils (January)
Inspect caulking around tubs, showers, and windows (February)
Test GFCI outlets (February or as part of spring prep)
Review emergency preparedness supplies and family plan (February)
🌷 Spring (March – May)
Focus: Moisture control, exterior inspection, preparing yard & systems for summer.
Change furnace filters (March)
Test carbon monoxide and smoke detectors (Quarterly — do in April)
Inspect roof for damage after winter
Check exterior drainage and foundation for cracks
Clean gutters and downspouts
Flush hot water heater to remove sediment (March or April)
Schedule A/C service (March or April)
Clear out window wells and foundation drains
Power wash siding, windows, and outdoor surfaces
Trim trees, shrubs, and bushes for healthy growth
Fertilize and aerate lawn
Clean window screens and reinstall them
